Minimal with only the peeler. In Bridge I compensated for camera distortion and vignette. In Photoshop I created a hue/saturation layer and selected for the knife, creating a mask on the adjustment layer. I adjusted hue 180 degrees so the knife is the complement of red, green.
The highlights are clipped at 118 by a curves adjustment layer.

Reviewing, I can see a distracting tint in the negative space. I added a curves adjustment layer and clipped the highlights at 118 => 255.

This shot includes both the peeler and the knife. I also shot without the knife.

My second setup for minimal, going for large negative space. I used natural light and suspended my camera over Lynne's desk, set to the lowest height.
    I submitted this session.

Lamp with clipboard. Using a hue/saturation layer in Photoshop I increased the saturation of blue and color shifted red by 30 degrees to orange and magenta 90 degrees to orange. Blue and orange are complementary colors.

I shot without the clipboard with blue of the lamp as the key color. I added the clipboard for a complementary color but complement of blue is orange, not pink as the color of the clipboard. I handled that in post processing with Photoshop.

This assignment was a minimal photo using a key color and a complementary color for contrast. I chose Lynne's desk lamp as the subject on her desk with shutters closed behind. To bring out the lamp shade I used a light with reflector bounced off the white ceiling and in-camera HDR.
