I used a Sunway Foto Focus Rail on my tripod with the camera support mounted horizontally, leaning over a table. I set the lens to manual focus, minimum distance, and used the focus rail to move the camera toward the subject to focus. Exposures were up to 6 seconds so I used a remote shutter release. The camera shook for up to 5 seconds after being touched so I waited that long before tripping the shutter.
